Explore Schackenborg Slot and Tønder Marshland

We begin the day trip in Møgeltønder with a delicious lunch at Schackenborg Slot.

After lunch, we embark on a guided tour with one of the castle's guides inside the historic Schackenborg Slot, built in 1664 on the foundation of the old fortress Møgeltønderhus, which Count and Field Marshal Hans Schack received from King Frederick III.

During the castle tour, our guide tells us about the history, Field Marshal and national hero Hans Schack, the castle's inhabitants over time, the Royal Family, and the gold finds at Gallehus, and more.

Coffee and homemade pastries are served at the castle inn before we head out into the Tønder Marshland.

In our own cars, we experience the unique nature and culture of the marshland. A nature that appears wild and untamed but has been meticulously designed down to the smallest detail, shaped by people's lives with and against the water. We visit Lægan Pumping Station, Gl. Frederikskog, Nørremølle, and Vidå Sluice during the tour of Tønder Marshland.

Meeting point: Schackenborg Slotskro / Castle Inn. Remember comfortable footwear and a rain/wind jacket.

Guided tour of Schackenborg Slot for 70 minutes (public tour).

Coffee and cake at the castle inn or in the Master's Stable (specified upon arrival).

16:00 - approx. 18:00
Grand tour of Tønder Marshland in our own cars with historical guidance at 4 stops along the way.
