The taste of war

See the exhibition „Breaking News“ – news photographs from the 1864 war. Hear the lecture about the events of the war and the work of the war correspondent, more than 150 years ago, by Curator Axel Johnsen from Sønderborg Castle. Afterwords, quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger.

The exhibit consists of a nearly complete collection of woodcuts, which Sønderborg Castle obtained in 2014. Together with photographs and weapons from the fields of war in Schleswig, gripping and easily understood texts describe the events from the first gunshot in February 1864, until the peace treaty of October of the same year.

After the lecture, a soldier’s ration is served, consisting of homemade pea soup made from fresh vegetables and smoked pork, served with rye bread, mustard and beer!

Tickets on sale until August 25. There must be at least 30 participants. For more information, check our homepage: www.museum-sonderjylland.dk. The lecture is held in Danish.
