Sort Sol from Ballum campsite in the middle of the marshes

2 nights: Arrive in your caravan, campervan or pitch your tent and stay overnight at Ballum Camping near the Wadden Sea National Park. The campsite is situated in the midst of the marshland and is a paradise for birdwatchers – and birds are what you’ll experience on this tour, where tickets to see the spectacular flocks of migrating starlings – known as Sort Sol, or Black Sun – are included.

The guides from Sort Safari are nature guides with many years’ experience of tours to see Sort Sol. The tours take place on selected days and begin from either Skærbæk or Tønder. On many days, the bus runs from both Skærbæk and Tønder, in which case you simply choose the town from where you’d like to start. The tour lasts around 3 hours and the meeting point will appear on the voucher. Remember to bring your passport with you and wear clothes suitable for the prevailing weather conditions. You can also bring a pair of binoculars and an underlay to sit on.

Programme for your stay:

Day 1. Arrival at Ballum Camping, where you’ll be staying at a standard pitch at the campsite.

Day 2. Depending on the time of year for your visit, the Sort Sol buses depart between 15.30 and 17.00. The tours begin earlier towards the end of the season. Meeting point and time appear on the voucher.
