Oyster break at Schackenborg Slotskro
1 night – Oyster safari and overnight stay at Schackenborg Slotskro
Under wide open skies, close to the marshes and the sea, lies the town of Møgeltønder. On the beautiful cobblestone street of Slotsgade, where ducks waddle during the day and old streetlights are lit at night, lies Schackenborg Slotskro, an inn that has held royal privileges since 1687, with Schackenborg Castle as its nearest neighbour.
Schackenborg Slotskro has 20 newly refurbished rooms in a variety of categories, including 18 double rooms and 2 single rooms. All rooms are situated either on the first floor or in one of the three neighbouring houses.
At the inn, we uphold the history of the establishment, whilst we look forward to taking you on a gastronomic journey that takes its point of departure in a modern version of the regional kitchen of Sønderjylland, based on good, local ingredients.
Schackenborg Slotskro is an ideal base for adventures in the Wadden Sea, e.g. oyster picking combined with a 3-course or 5-course menu in the evening at the inn. The latter is not included, but can be ordered directly from Schackenborg Slotskro.
After a good night’s sleep in elegant surroundings, Sort Safari will take you on an Oyster- and Mussles Safari in the Wadden Sea.
Wearing ordinary wellington boots, we walk a few hundred metres out into the Wadden Sea at low tide. Join us on this Oyster- and MusselsSafari which takes us 300 m out on the sea bed in the Wadden Sea where you can collect plenty of oysters and mussels. Taste them and hear the magic story of oysters significance through time.
Duration 2½ hours. Meeting place will be stated upon registration. Bring warm, practical waterproff clothing and rubberboots, a bucket for oyster and waterproff gloves.
Remember a bucket for the oysters. The tour isn’t suitable for people with walking difficulties or for young children.
