Bunker tour on Rømø – a journey back in time to the occupation of Denmark.

Go on a journey back in time with a visit to the bunkers that were built on the island during the Second World War.

Hear about life as a soldier and the daily lives of the civilians on the island during the Nazi occupation, as well as learning all about possibly one of the best kept secrets of the war. The island’s bunker position, “Robbe Nord”, contained one of the most modern and technologically advanced radar systems of the day.
For more than 30 years, our guides have taken our guests through the plantation at Tvismark Plantage, where the remnants of the former bunker position can still be found. In addition to the bunker which contained equipment for processing radar signal data, there are also bunkers for anti-aircraft guns, searchlights, ammunition and surveillance of the immediate area. During the tour it’s also possible to go into some of the bunkers.

We meet at Naturcenter Tønnisgård and then drive in own cars to Tvismark Plantage. The route at the position itself is approximately 2 km long and the tour lasts around 2½ hours.

Remember to dress according to the weather and take a torch with you if you actually want to go into the bunkers.
